Riots in Belgrade: Pictures that can get one in serious trouble
A group of angry Serbs attacked the US embassy with no police around. As soon as our photo-journalist Ondřej Besperát took this picture, the unruly crowd of Serbs went to beat him up.
The angry demonstrators got inside the US embassy compound setting several rooms on fire. Charred body of one of them was later found at the scene.
Former member of the special Serbian police force Zoran Tmušić has been on hunger strike since Sunday to preserve Kosovo as the "Holy Land of Serbia".
After the demostration ended, some of the guys put on balaclavas and went to attack the embassies and demolish restaurants nearby. Zobrazit 8 fotografií

Belgrade - Aktuálně.cz photo-journalist Ondřej Besperát was right there when the troubles broke out in front of the US embassy in Belgrade on Thursday February 21, claiming life of at least one person and causing injuries to 150.

He himself was roughed up by a group of young unruly protestors whom he photographed as they were trying to break in.

"I spoke in Czech to them to let them know I am not American, as everybody here is furious about the US at the moment. I got a few kicks and someone slapped me. I lost my cap and the camera flash," he later described the incident.
