"Jáchymov Hell": what's left?
Ore from all the country was brought together in this single-storied building with a multilevel tower. After being crushed in a giant grinding mill, it was loaded on trains and transferred to the Soviet Union.

Jáchymov - Jáchymov Hell, the uranium ore mine and a communist labor camp was given this nickname by the ones imprisoned there and lucky enough to survive.

Taking place in the beginning of the 1950s, mining of the strategic raw material demanded by the Soviet Union coincided with the socialist Czechoslovakia's most draconic repressions.

Tens of thousands of people were imprisoned for political reasons by the regime. More than fifty years after, this is what's left...
